Eligibility Criteria 

  • Completion of PhD: Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. at a university other than ETH Zurich University or the University of Zurich within two years before the deadline.
  • Ongoing Ph.D. Studies: Candidates who are still working towards their PhD must provide a certificate signed by their advisor or department chair stating when they plan to defend their thesis.
  • Residence and Study Limitations: Applicants should not have lived or done their main work or studies in Switzerland for more than twelve months in the three years before the deadline. Additionally, they must not have spent more than six months doing their main work or studies at ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich in the last three years.
  • Scientific Publication: Applicants must have at least one scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Documents Required

  • Copy of the Passport: Applicants must provide a clear copy of their passport.
  • Research Project Description: A comprehensive description of the research project is required. It should include the candidate’s specific role and demonstrate how it aligns with the ongoing research in the host group.
  • Detailed CV: Candidates need to submit a detailed CV that includes a list of publications and a recent photograph.
  • Host Professor’s CV: A brief CV of the host professor should also be included.
  • Motivation Letter: Applicants must write a concise motivation letter, limited to one page, explaining their reasons for applying and showcasing their suitability for the fellowship.
  • Invitation Letter by Host Professor: An invitation letter from the host professor is necessary. It should emphasize the candidate’s excellence and suitability for the fellowship.
  • Certificate of Defense: If the candidate has not yet completed their doctorate, a certification signed by the advisor or department chair stating the planned defence date should be included.
  • Reference Letters: Two reference letters for the candidate must be sent directly to the Grants Office by the referees. It is advisable to ensure that the letters are sent at least 10 days before the submission deadline.
