HITEC University initiated its classes in 2007, in the month of November. At that time it only inducted 250 students were studying and now there are thousands of students studying there a significant change of amount. It was granted its own charter in November 2009, by the Government of Punjab. The University is sponsored by Heavy Industries Taxila Education Welfare Trust (HITEWT).

HITEC University has all the facilities that a good university can offer, Hostels for boys and girls, library with books all related to the programs being taught and a huge auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500 students, which the selected student will see on their orientation visit to HITEC University Taxila.
