Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program, you must:
For Undergraduates:
- Egyptian nationals and residents of Egypt (preference not given to dual nationality applicants)
- Planning to start studies in the USA in 2025
- Committed to returning to Egypt for two years after completing their bachelor’s degree
- Not lived more than 3 years abroad
- English proficiency: iBT TOEFL 100 or above
- Academic achievement: GPA 3.5 / 90% in Thanaweyya Amma certification or equivalent
- Minimum SAT scores: Old SAT (before May 2017): Overall 2100, Reading 700, Math 700, Writing 700; New SAT (after May 2017): Overall 1450, Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 730, Math 730; or SAT II in 3 subjects: 600 or above
- Involvement in extracurricular activities
For Masters:
- Egyptian nationals and residents of Egypt (preference given to non-holders of dual nationality)
- Planning to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering at top universities in the United States
- Not lived more than 3 years abroad
- Committed to returning to Egypt for two years after completing their bachelor’s degree
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 100 or above
- Academic achievement: GPA 3.5 / Very Good or above (Overall grade)
- Minimum three years of working experience
- MBA – GMAT score: 650 or above (taken within 5 years)
- Involvement in extracurricular activities

How to Apply?
Please follow these steps to apply for the Scholarship
For Undergraduate Scholarship:
- Create an account on the Amideast website.
- Provide personal information and educational details.
- Answer two essay questions in the Statement of Purpose section:
- Q1: Write a 500-word essay discussing how attending your desired university will help you achieve success on personal, local, and national levels.
- Q2: Write a 350-word essay about your passions and how you have pursued them throughout your life.
- Attach the following files in the attachments section:
- Application form
- Copy of transcripts
- Resume
- Copy of graduation certificate or Thanaweyya Amma certificate (if available)
- Copy of test scores (SAT I / SAT II) and iBT TOEFL
- Two recommendation letters
- Submit your application.
For Masters Scholarship:
- Fill out the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Graduate application form.
- Prepare the following documents:

- Being selected as a nominee for the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program does not guarantee acceptance into a university. Applicants will receive support in applying to the approved universities listed below. The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program award will be granted once university acceptance is obtained.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have not resided, worked, or studied abroad for a significant period.
