FPSC The Commission consists of a Chairman and a member. The Chairman is appointed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in his discretion, under Article 242 (IA) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973. The Public Service Commission was set up for the first time in British India in 1926.

After independence, the Commission was established in Pakistan in 1947 under the provision of the Government of India Act, 1935. The members are appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Commission is assisted by the Secretary who provides a link among the Commission, its Secretariat, and the Government Agencies.

Terms and conditions

A.) FOR BS-16 AND BS-17 POSTS.
In case number of applicants is maximum twenty (20) per case, the Commission reserves the right to dispense with the Screening (MCQ) Test and call the candidates for interview directly, after determination of their eligibility in terms of advertised conditions and if a number of applicants are more than twenty (20) per case, Screening Test comprising MCQs (with qualifying threshold of 25% marks) will be held.
B.) FOR BS-18 AND BS-19 POSTS.
Only Written (Descriptive) Test comprising two papers of 100 marks each (with a qualifying threshold of 40% marks) will be held.
C.) FOR BS-20 AND BS-21 POSTS.
Written Test comprising one paper of 100 marks viz; English Essay or Case Study relating to the field of the post will be held for all applicants.
