Army Medical College is a military institute that was established in 1977 as a residential institution for imparting undergraduate medical education to selected cadets, College was initially affiliated with the Quaid-e-Azam University but is now affiliated with the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) since 1998.

Army Medical College (AMC) – Entry/Admission Test

The admission test of AMC is held in all major cities of Pakistan and the final date of the test is announced on their official site. We will update the test date on this page as soon as we get any news from the official website.

A candidate will be selected on the basis of the entrance exam, medical exam, intelligence exam, and then interview result. The entrance test is based on four major subjects, weightage of subjects is given below.

Eligibility for Admission

The following conditions will govern the eligibility of Candidates for admission to the MBBS/BDS Course:

• Educational Qualification
  • FSc (Premedical) with 70% marks.
  • ‘A’ and ‘0’ level candidates will have to obtain an equivalent certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), Ministry of Education, Islamabad.
• Physical Standards
  • Minimum Height
  • Males. 5 ft 4 inch (162.5cm)
  • Females. 4ft 8 inch (145 cm)
     
• Visual Standards and Weight

Should be according to the standards acceptable for the commission in the Army.

How can boys and girls join Army Medical College 

I have received a lot of questions about girls’ and boys’ admission to the Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, and CMH Lahore Medical College, Lahore. So, the following post will help you in getting the answers to your questions.

For Boys

The most famous way for boys to join Army Medical College and CMH Lahore Medical College is through Medical Cadet Course. This is a Regular Commission for boys in the Pakistan army. This course is for F.Sc Pre-medical boys, not for girls.

The selection procedure for the Medical Cadet Course is the same as that of the PMA Long Course. There will be preliminary tests including Written/Intelligence/Personality. After clearing this first test, there will be physical tests and initial medical tests. The shortlisted candidates will receive an ISSB interview letter.

The selection procedure for getting admission in AM College’s MBBS and BDS will be
Preliminary Tests+Physical Tests+Initial Medical Tests+ISSB Interview = Selection

But the selection procedure for CMH Lahore Medical College’s MBBS (BDS is not included) will be slightly different
Preliminary Tests+Physical Tests+Initial Medical Tests+ISSB Interview+UHS Test = Selection
Yes, If you want to do MBBS and BDS from CMH Lahore Medical College, then you have to take the UHS test but for AM College there is no need for the UHS test.

On becoming successful, GHQ will issue you the call letter which you will receive at your home. You will be paid 30000 PKR per month by GHQ throughout your 5 years of MBBS or 4 years of BDS. During your stay in college, you will wear a Khaki uniform and will be called as Cadet. After this, there will be 6-month training at PMA Kakul. On successful completion of training, you will be awarded the rank of Captain and you will serve in the Army Medical Corps for at least 13 years. This period of 13-year is your bond with the army.

 For Girls

The girls are not admitted to the army through the above method. Up to 2012, the girls used to join AMC and CMH through Medical Cadet Course. This method used to require the 13 year bond for girls with the Pak army. Pakistani girls have large family responsibilities on their shoulders besides this army doctor’s job, so the army decided to stop girls’ enrollment through this method. The girls were paid 30000 PKR per month by GHQ from this method of enrollment.
